A general election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 for the purpose of electing three residents to serve on the seven-member School Board for School District 197.  The terms of three current School Board seats (John Chandler, Stephanie Levine, and Maureen Ramirez) are expiring on January 3, 2018. 

The period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of School Board member begins at 8:00 a.m. on August 1, 2017 and closes at 5:00 p.m. on August 15, 2017.  Affidavits of candidacy will be available and can be filed in the Superintendent's Office during office hours:

     -  August 1-14 (8am-4pm Monday through Thursday; and 8am-11:30am on Fridays)
     -  August 15 (8am-5pm)

The District Office is located at 1897 Delaware Avenue, Mendota Heights, MN 55118.  Complete affidavits of candidacy must be filed at the District Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 15, 2017 along with a non-refundable $2 filing fee OR a petition with at least 500 signatures of eligible voters in place of the filing fee.

If needed, persons who file for candidacy for School Board have until 5:00 p.m. on August 17, 2017 to request that their name be removed from the ballot.  After August 17, the names of all remaining candidates will be included on the ballot.

A candidate for this office must be an eligible voter in the state of Minnesota, has not filed for the same or any other office at the upcoming general election, must be 21 years of age or more upon assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for 30 days before the general election, and must not be a registered sex offender under Minn. Stat. 243.166.

As of end of day, Wednesday, August 2nd, three people have filed their Affidavits of Candidacy for the ISD 197 School Board.  They are:
    -     John Chandler of Mendota Heights
    -     Maureen Ramirez of West St. Paul
    -     Stephanie Levine of Mendota Heights
