Superintendent Search

West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan Area Schools (District 197) is currently in the process of searching for its next superintendent. 

The school board has contracted with School Exec Connect, a superintendent search firm, to assist with the process. 

Information regarding the search, including opportunities for community input, will be posted to this webpage as it becomes available. Parents, staff and district residents are encouraged to visit this page often for news and updates.

Search Timeline:
  • January 2017 - A district-wide online survey (see links above) and meetings with the school board, staff, students and the community to gather input regarding the opportunities, strengths and goals of the district, as well as the characteristics and skills desired in a new superintendent.
  • February 2017 
    • Review of candidates and selection of interviewees - February 16, 5 p.m. - Henry Sibley H.S., A241 
    • Interviews - Round One - February 21, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. - Henry Sibley H.S., A241
    • Selection of 2-3 final candidates - February 21
    • Interviews - Round Two - February 22 and 23, and if needed, February 27.
      • Community Q & A with each candidate, 5 p.m. (each day) - Henry Sibley H.S.
    • Selection of a new superintendent
  • March 2017 - Negotiations and school board approval of contract
  • July 2017 - New superintendent starts in District 197
